JUNE 5, A DAY TO CELEBRATE OUR LIFE JACKET ON EARTH

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
JUNE 5, A DAY TO CELEBRATE OUR LIFE JACKET ON EARTH
I called our Environment A Life Jacket, why?
We are enclosed and wrapped within, it while we feel every change on it and also feels the impact of any condition or it status.
We are aware that by night, every household must lock their door, as a measure to prevent been robbed or from other dangers. Also, we all wear cloths, to protect our body from external things but, We have failed to realize that the whole of houses we live in as shelter, the clothes we put on to protect our skin, are all within the Environment that is accommodating us and keeping us alive.
No matter how gigantic our buildings are, no matter how beautiful those clothes are, if the Environmental condition is 80% harsh, we can enjoy nothing.
An adage says; where much is given, much is expected.
Unfortunately, we are giving nothing to our Environment but, we exploit it than what it could reproduce or replenish.

Ø  Pollution of all kinds.
Ø  Over exploitation of resources
Ø  Ecosystem disintegration.
Ø  Biodiversity brutality.
Amidst a lot more are activities we human engage in daily that deteriorate the environment.
There is no other planet for us to survive. If MARS is meant for us, we would have been created in two parts (Earth citizens and Mars citizens), but No.
Ø  Mismanagement
Ø  Greed
Ø  Ignoramus live has deteriorated our dwelling home.
Now we are looking for another option, thinking there would be no consequence later on the run.
Ø  A lot of disease outbreaks,
Ø  Disasters,
Ø  State of emergencies has occurred and claimed lives.
Those lives claimed are not because they are the causer but due to inequality in the society.
Ohhhh My Dearest Life Jacket, what have I caused you?
(A question to ask ourselves)

Today is another day to stand up and work towards bringing things back to its normal status.
Animals in the wild are good conserves of resources.
How do I mean?

Ø  The carnivores kill when necessary.
Ø  The herbivore feeds on what they need.
Ø  The omnivore takes what they need alone without excess.
Ø  Insect carry out pollination.
Ø  All Wild animals except carnivores carry out propagation and they all work circularly to balance the ecosystem.
2020 World Environment Day can be a day to begin the restoration. Let us work it out.
Ø  GREAT CONSERVATIONISTS
Ø  GREAT ENVIRONMENTALISTS
Ø  GOD BLESS OUR LIFE JACKET
Ø  GOD BLESS ECC
Ø  GOD BLESS NECOR.
Ø  GOD BLESS NSEC
Ø  GOD BLESS WISON
Ø  GOD BLESS ONE UP ACTION
Ø  GOD BLESS MAPS

COVID’19 QUESTION: SHOULD NIGERIANS CALL THIS COUNTRY THEIR HOME OR SLAVERY

COVID’19 QUESTION: SHOULD NIGERIANS CALL THIS COUNTRY THEIR HOME OR SLAVERY
A nation, where the government has nothing to boost of, is a failing country.
These entire nonsensical and self centered attitudes started from our fore leaders, whose zeal and passion of serving the nation back then, was to have it all by power. This is the same thing our present and current leaders are building on.

Due to the outbreak of COVID’19, Nigerians were instructed and advised to stay at home/indoor, to quicken the control and lessen the spreading rate of the virus, mean while the insurgent of COVID'19 met us at home in a strike action due to salary issue.

QUESTIONS ARISING.
Ø What are we going to be eating?
Ø How are we going to cope with epileptic power supply?
Ø Are we just going to sit down and die of hunger and boredom while you people enjoy security, free food, classic health care, good power supply, etc?

Even if we are blind, still yet, we can hear what other nations are doing.
Even if we are deaf, we can see infrastructures of other nations as well as their care for their citizens during this outbreak period.
Ø What is wrong with Nigeria?
Ø Is this how poor the Nation is?
Ø Are we slaves that needs no attention?
Ø So, why is our country not stagnant and at the same time not growing but, reversing, retarding and melting down?

In Federal Schools, 2013/2014 infrastructures are just been done in 2019/2020.
Imagine the president and most of his cabinet members cannot even read and pronounce English words correctly, how they can think correctly.

God blessed our land
God loved us
God is with us
God has interest in us, but hunger and poverty that emanated from looting the country by these people has made a lot of people to go into fraudulence act, robbery, kidnapping, ritual and the likes.
The people that are meant to protect us are killing, looting and depriving us our rights. Ø Why?

Thank God for people like;
Ø ALIKO DANGOTE
Ø FEMI OTEDOLA
Ø ATIKU ABUBAKAR
Ø ABDULSAMAD RABIU
Ø TONY ELUMELU
Ø HERBERT WIGWE
Ø SAGUN AGBAJE
Ø JIM OVIA ETC.

Organizations like,
Ø Access Bank
Ø  Zenith Bank etc.

These people and organizations has shown a great concern on the well been of the Nation, even with their personal properties because, they know the value of what is called home.
I want the leaders to know that there are still a lot of citizens with nothing in their purse, but they never gave up praying for the Nation as well as doing the right things.

Another question goes thus; Even though we are good and loyal citizens,
what are our dividends here?

There is heaven
There is Aljahna
There is judgment

Nigerians, even if the so called leaders and government can do nothing to help us this time, let us STAY SAFE by following the proposed instructions from WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO).
THE DARK NIGHT WILL SOON PASS OVER I PRAY

AN EDUCATIVE LECTURE DELIVERED BY THE CONSERVATOR GENERAL, NIGERIA PARK SERVICE ON WORLD WILDLIFE DAY 2020

SUSTAINING ALL LIFE ON EARTH, ENCOMPASSING ALL WILD ANIMAL AND PLANT SPECIES, AS KEY COMPONENTS OF THE WORLD’S BIODIVERSITY.
This aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals; Goal 1 (No poverty), Goal 12 (ensure consumption and production patterns), Goal 14 (Life below water) and Goal 15 (Life on land).
The world population is presently put around 7 Billion. The ever increasing population depends fully on the planet’s plants and animals to survive. We all have the responsibility to protect the environment and the resources in it. All of us as humans need one another, we share common habitat in close proximity, we breath the same air, we depend on wildlife and the earth rich biodiversity for our survival and well being.
Today, unsustainable human activities such as pollution, indiscriminate tree felling, uncontrolled burning of fossil fuels, mining, and over-exploitation etc, over the years had altered the shape of the planet. Million species of wildlife had been wiped off of the universe. For example, small and large mammals we used to see commonly in our environment had gone into extinction while many are critically endangered now. Elephant, buffalo, lion, hunting dog, hyena, caracal, Aadvark, Geoffrey colobus monkey and vultures could only be found in limited areas in Nigeria.
The Nigerian Government established her first National Park in 1979 by the creation of Kainji Lake National Park. As of today, the country has 7 National Parks fairly spread across the major ecological zones in the country. The table below shows the names of the National Parks, their sizes and locations. The whole 7 National Parks occupied a total land area of 22,206 sq km which is about 3% of the country’s total land area of 923.74 sq km.
      Gashaka-Gumti N. Park-                  6,731 sq km- Adamawa/Taraba States
Kainji Lake National Park-      5,382 sqkm- Kwara/Niger States
Cross River National Park-     4,000 sq km- Cross River State
Old Oyo National Park-          2,512 sq km         - Oyo/Kwara States
Chad Basin National Park-     2,258 sq km-Borno/Yobe states
Kamuku National Park-          1,121 sq km         - Kaduna State
Okomu National Park-            202 sq km   - Edo State
Having given us a brief history of National Parks in the world, Africa and Nigeria, I wish to itemize the benefits they provide practically in the protection and conservation of biodiversity which is the reason why we are here today.
1.      Protection of watershed
2.     Contribution towards Carbon Sequestration
3.     Employment generation
4.     Research
5.     Infrastructural Development
6.     Recreation
7.     Foreign Exchange
Challenges:
1.     Overexploitation
2.     Various Anthropogenic Activities
3.     Outbreak of Diseases
4.     Insecurity
5.     Poor funding
6.     Inadequate Manpower
Way forward:
1.       Creation of more National Parks in the country
2.     Aggressive Public Sensitization and Media Advocacy on the importance of wildlife conservation.
3.     Inclusion of wildlife Conservation Education in our primary and secondary schools as a way of catching them young.
4.     Liberalization of the sector for more participation:
5.     Security
6.     Funding
Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, as we gather here today to celebrate this year’s World Wildlife Day, I want to strongly plead and appeal to all of us to join hands together to protect our environment. Humanity must take no more from nature than nature can replenish. Let us say “NO” to indiscriminate tree felling, killing of animals, use of chemical to fish and wildlife trafficking. Animal has right of life as we all have as humans. I want to therefore urge the government at all levels i.e. from federal, State and local governments, the civil society, private sector, individuals to add their voices and take practical actions towards conserving wildlife and ensure its sustenance for the present and future generations. It is a business for all of us, hence, nobody is permitted to be an onlooker.
